Just as I thought, no change in PCIe and effected SATA ports since the Z97 boards.
So Shawn, do you intend to add an M.2 to take advantage of the Intel Optane Memory support?

Shawn I was just comparing your Maximus X Code with my Hero, to see if you also got a 40x40 / 50x50 fan mount for your VRMs also(I was going to ask if you set it up), but it looks like not(in the online manual). I only got the mount, and need to buy the fan separately if I want to use one(maybe in the future).
Specially living in the south, something like that would have been useful, as even if your delidded, and are water cooling the CPU, if when the VRMs get too warm your OC will throttle(baseclock). The system remains stable, just the OC throttles.
Hi,
Not sure one would need that type of fan
You could just make the two top fans intakes like I did and be done
Couple 120 or 140mm fans which he may already have
Although he might just have his radiator already mounted on the top as an intake ?
I always do that Mike. Everyone has their opinion, which is fine. I have always had good luck when I set every fan as intake except the rear fan. Not only does it keep bringing in cooler air, but it creates positive air pressure inside the case which blows out any hot air through the rear fan and any cracks or crevices in the case. Negative air pressure will suck outside air in through those cracks without any dust filters. Studies have shown that positive air pressure results in about 40% less dust inside the case. I like that part.
Hi,
Yeah I switched mainly because I watched a lot of thermal image readings on my new boards
Pretty wild looking and seeing the hot spots glowing red
In the Maximus x Formula the VRM has a water cooling block pre installed. It does cost more, a lot more.
True. I did bump into a couple of AIO's that are up-gradable so you could add. Likely can add a lot and I don't know how well they perform.
You are very right, every time I do the price work up on Custom Loops the number get crazy. For them the price difference would be small.
