That's a sweet build. I don't have the funds nor the experience for that type of setup. Now are u referring to the i9 cpu. I think I might be ok with the 7280x. Plus.... It's not a gamin machine... strictly exports, photo editing large docs, and video

    Hi,
    Thanks
I believe you meant 7820x yeah I almost got that one instead but last minute said what the hell :)

Read quite a bit and the 7740 had some nice performance reviews up against the 7900
My priority though was win-7 :)

    Hi,
Yeah but the 7900x default clock 3.3 is sadly disappointing even with turbo 3.0 enabled :)
A basic clock is 4.5 and is hot even for a Corsair H115i to handle and 4.5 is needed to get any performance out of the 7900x
Which still lacks beating my our i7-5930k benchmarks

Here is the default clock with turbo 3
4.3 and temps keeping in mind I have delided the cpu and a new mono block installed
    Intel Core i9 7900X @ 4299.92 MHz - CPU-Z VALIDATOR
I don't think you need anywhere near that Vc with a clock of 4.3 on 7900X. And of course with lower Vc comes lower temps.

auto will overshoot Vc needs almost always, the only question is by how much... sometimes by a huge amount

    Hi,
Yep turbo 3 that one I just did and it was nearly 4.3
Did one yesterday it was 4.4 so a tad inconsistent but temps are pretty much assured to be high
