    New memory ?

    Hi,
Okay I'm in the market for new ram
Which one is better on the 2666 I have both c16 and c15 and the c15 is clearly faster and oc's better
Now I'm looking at these two c14 and c16 :/

I considered trident z too but after reading many bad reviews of the rgb series I don't know about that one anymore.
But I did see some c18 I believe 3600 but again rgb review with corrupting the dimms was :yikes: :)

    • Torque
    • Speed: 3200MHz
    • Tested Latency: 14-16-16-36
    • Voltage: 1.35V

    Faster than

    • Speed: 3200MHz
    • Tested Latency: 16-18-18-36
    • Voltage: 1.35V

The price difference? The second set has a fan.

The Torque is the faster set.

Jumping up from 3200mhz to 3600mhz with looser timings - what's your primary usage? In the real world you'd be hard pushed to notice any difference anywhere.

This what I am using. Uses Samsung B-Die memory, overclocks very easy. Not easy to find though. I paid a fair bit less then this price when I bought mine.

    Hi,
Thanks doorules that I was last night wasn't sure about it seeing it was also c16 :)
Come to think about it I only saw the z170 platform one this one states x99 as well

Looks like my board is listed on the qvl too

Well Smarty it is mostly for oc capabilities I'm getting killed by higher memory users
2666 even the c15 I have will only go so far about 2850'sMhz before it gets wonky with fragments...
The close timings of the c16 corsair I believe stabilizes even a little lower won't really go a hair over 2800xmp.

yeah the 2666 kits are indeed a limiting factor these days. On the plus side a low timing 3200mhz kit should feasibly be able to hit higher mhz with a little timing loosening and voltage bumps.

I can't comment on the TridentZ, but I have used G.Skill pretty much exclusively for years and had some good results.

As doorules mentioned, modules with samsung b die are the best overclockers. however this affects Ryzen more than intel.

    Hi,
Thanks yep I went with the trident z 3200 c16 anyway I did notice doorules had the c14 modules but heck I'd be happy hitting 3200 or even 3000 :)
No need to go over 3200 and with corsair you can only go a tad over the rating speed anyway so I'm sort of used to that.

I had mine up to 3200(they are rated only for 3000) windows and programs played well with it, only Hyper-V hated it, and VMs are the only "real" reason I bought this computer:)

    Hi,
Yep rated speed is plenty good and xmp profile #2 will boost past that as you state so if c16 trident z does that it will be good enough.
