The last one I used before the grizzly was M4 paste. Used that a long time. I am of the camp that it is more important how you apply than which one. I have never seen any comparisons where one or another blows the rest away.

As long as it stands up over time and spreads good you are golden... :)

I use the Dot and press method never spread i have had good luck with that process

Even though spreading is much more efficient i supposed every time i remove my cooler it is always a perfect square

Only brand I've ever used...."Arctic Silver 5" but it's been awhile since I've had the need to buy any.

By spread I meant how it looks after you remove the block. Did it cover all the area it needed to.

I use the X method myself.

    Hi,
Not exactly sure how one gets a circle out of a dot of thermal paste
Logic states a round circle will happen every time :)

I used thermal grizzly at first wasn't too impressed besides it seemed to be dried out so this time I use arctic silver
Method well I spread it out except for 1/4" from the outside of the cpu and do get a square :)

I have used several, but I use Notcua NT-H1 now. I seem to have good results with it and like the way it spreads.

I think Doorules comment was not about method but about coverage. If you get good coverage the correct thickness, it really doesn't matter the method you use or the brand.

I can't find it now but the best comparison of thermal pastes I have ever seen tested the top about 20 pastes. It was done as fair and objective as you can do one. What impressed me most was the top 8 pastes had a difference of something like 2° from #1 to #8. That kind of supports doorules statement. Getting the right coverage is much more important than the brand you use. I would assume that would be as long as you use a quality brand.
