While on the subject of thermal paste, I always thought this was interesting.
Hi,
Good one but he didn't use near as much arctic silver as the silicon paste on the line or at least it didn't to me :/
Hi,
Changed mine to the pea dot method that spread one scared me lol
Gonna try some Kryonaut on the 7900X before I send it to Silicon Lottery :)
Thermal Grizzly High Performance Cooling Solutions - Kryonaut
Ya, I`ve only ever used the Pea drop, and it never covers the entire IHS so I may try spreading it before putting the block on.
You just gotta make sure you have a very thin, even layer.
But then, the video shows trapped air bubbles if you spread it, so we`ll see.
Hi,
Yeah I was very careful the way I spread it going from the center to the outer edges but dang that silicone spread showing really did mess with my head
But yes indeed pea dot can be hit and miss
Lifting the cpu off and putting it back on would probably create the same air bubble issue except worse :/
Hi,
At first probably the same as mine showed about 25c
The heating issue doesn't kick in until stress kicks in a turbo whacks the voltage and boom you're now at 95c using realbench depending on ones oc
Default might not be too bad though the lowest all core I used was x45 and went up to 47.
Used ez oc and it used 42 on specific core I believe and wasn't much better temp wise.
Only way to limit turbo was to limit vcore or at least the easiest method
I used manual and 2.40v and it actually did pretty well but still went to 100c on realbench.
