Just setup the ram disk. I use the Asus utility. In settings for Passmark set the ram drive as the test drive.

No need to install to the ram drive

    Hi,
Yep buying an i9-7900x I had to cut corners somewhere so the asus tuf mark 2 was it
It was 220.00 and some change after a 30.00 credit buying the processor at micro center for 899.99
Now that's an area I've never been in. The most I spent on a processor was $342 for my i7-7700K. My motherboards tend to be more expensive than my processors.

I had planed on getting the x299 prime and 7820x but just changed my mind at the last minute seeing I looked at both the mark 1 and the mark 2 and there isn't a whole lot of difference besides 80.00 worth of plastic armor and I didn't know no metal plate on the back.
Micro center at the time didn't have a mark 1 anyway.
My last board and CPU (Gigabyte GA-Z270X Gaming 8 & i7-7700K) came from Microcenter which also allowed me to save 30 bucks on the MB. For those that don't know, Micro Center will automatically deduct 30 bucks off a MB if you also purchase the CPU with them as well.

That said, sometime Micro Center doesn't always have the board I'm looking for so I'll end up getting it from either Amazon or B&H Photo. Yes, they also sell PC parts :)

I guess I'm tossing money away because my last 3 boards exceeded that mark. And I have no complaints. In fact the last 3 boards hovered at $300, with the most expensive @390 and the least @299.

I tend to look at boards from a features and performance range rather than price. I don't want to get a mid range board to find later I'm limited by a missing feature I skimped on due to price. That's me.
I fully agree with you if you can use the features in some cases i don't that is what i mean when tossing money away

I can't ever argue with anyone who has money to do as they please so with that being said i was talking about a feature point of view if i don't need it there is no reason to buy a motherboard with it but yes you pay a premium for premium quality and that is across the board

I tossed a bunch of money away with you, and am not sorry I did it. We won't discuss what Tommy said about my Maximus Extreme board. At the time it was probably the most expensive Z77 board on the market.
If i recall that board cost more than the tires on my Honda Civic

Got it. But your comments make clear you don't see any board being worth more than $250.00 bucks. That's fine, but what threw me is when you further stated others are throwing money away spending more than $250 bucks....

$180-200 is good enough no board should exceed $250.00 after that number you're just tossing money away
That's kind of like smacking people over the head for going over "your" suggested threshold

    Anyway it's all good :)

    Peace

This is only for benchmarking purpose. No worries about losing data as there will be no data on the ram disk.

    Hi,
Yep I discarded the loosing data bit I gathered that from the rog forum post about is it worth using :)

I don't really see how I direct a benchmark to that disk which would actually be a partition
Could you give a few more details
Performance test 9 in particular it is the thorn in my backside
