    8GB RAM standard?

Is it just me or did the standard for new computers go from 16GB DDR3 to 8GB DDR4? I have been browsing new PCs and find even high end desktops only having 8GB of ram standard. I find they most tasks I do I need 16GB at least anymore. I recently bought a MacBook Air and thought 8GB would be enough and now it's for sale since I need at least 16GB. Just posting this observation, maybe I'm just crazy.

Ya 8GB is probably the norm, but if you build a PC to order you can get whatever you want.

I remember when I got my 1st Dell, it had 256 MB LOL

People always like the latest stuff, even though it is slower. :)

But if they want Ryzen or similar, they do not have a choice, DDR4 is way more expensive, so they settle for less. I could not run with less than 16GB, just Deus Ex requires 12GB, without pagefile, otherwise it crashes.

Consider building your own computer, its often cheaper and you can specify your own components, and its rewarding.

Even my old Core 2 Quad system came in with 8GB, with the 780i. Now I switched to a P35 motherboard and sold a few sticks of ram and I have 5gb left. Still runs fine, just don't have 4GB though.
