Well, first gaming on an Intel Pentium just means you aren't going to have a good experience. A core i3, i5 or i7 would not provide you with the same experience.

Here is a suggestion for an Intel CPU and mobo. $270 for the combo. Gaming performance is generally better on the Intel's. Heavily multithreaded apps benefit from the higher core counts of Ryzen. If gaming is your #1 requirement, I'd personally go Intel.

    Core i5-7400 $189https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117731Gigabyte Mobo GIGABYTE GA-H270-HD3P. $79.99https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128994
could you do me a huge favor and put together a build with those two components? i have done a bunch of research on Amd's side, not Intel's. mabye on pcpartpicker?

I've never heard of any legal "free" Windows 10. Period.

Does that mean you are not buying at all?

If you are going to buy, you need to balance the build, particularly important since you are squeezing your budget.

You buy THIS set of components if 90% of your time will be spent gaming.

And you buy THAT set of components if 30% of your time will be spent gaming.

    I'd guess you are a 90% guy.

You need to find out if the particular games you want to play can take advantage of the 6 cores on that most expensive Ryzen. Maybe they cannot.

And you need to consider the resolution at which you want to game on that monitor and the settings you will use in your games. That should have some effect on how you split up your available money.

    I don't game, so I can't help you directly.

An Intel Pentium is so ancient or weak that I would not pay attention to what it did.

But you may be the type that will never forgive yourself if you buy Intel. Buyer's remorse. ("Dammit, I knew I should have gone with that Ryzen") That may be enough reason to buy AMD if you feel that strongly.

There isn't a free version of Windows 10. Count on about $110 for a copy of Windows 10 home. https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Win...dows+10+retail

all of your other components will work, just gotta pick some compatible RAM with what I gave you above. So 8GB of G.Skill is about $75.G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 8GB 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2400 Intel X99 Platform Desktop Memory Model F4-2400C15S-8GVR - Newegg.com

Yes you can. It's always nice having at least 2 monitors anyway.

i am a 90% guy. So yea, I may have to factor in Windows, but that will severely set my build back. And yes, I will probably feel remorse if I buy an intel, but I am open to options.
