    Quick question. How old is this system?

    If tomorrow fails to gain a stable system with reasonable settings then it may be worth RMAing the 6700k and as the CPU is away also RMAing the motherboard too.

    Thanks for all the help today @worf105.

    The system is about eight or nine months old. I completed the build in December of 2016.

    I just reset my BIOS to the stock settings as far as the CPU speed goes, 4.2GHZ using Turbo Boost. I also have the XMP profile loaded for the RAM. I have CPU Core Voltage set to 1.4V and am testing some games to make sure that this is stable without crashes. Ideally I would like to keep these settings for CPU and RAM, but find my lowest stable CPU core voltage to keep the temps down. I'll update when I find an unstable voltage at this speed.

    I have the Power Management set to Balanced. The CPU LLC settings are at the default "Auto" now.

    Hi all,

    I've attached my most recent BSOD mini dump file per the instructions.

    I tried leaving my system at 4.2 GHz and dialing down the voltage from 1.4V, using IntelBurnTest running 30 times as a benchmark.

    At 1.4V the temperature was getting above 85C so I stopped the test, reduced the voltage to 1.385 V and ran the test again. This time the test didn't pass, failed but no BSOD yet. I raised to 1.395 V, tested again and the temperatures were well over 85C once more. Last test, I tried 1.390 V and my computer had a BSOD with "Attempted to Write to ReadOnly Memory."

    At this point I've disabled Intel Turbo Boost and set the CPU voltage back to its "Auto" default in the BIOS. I'm not sure what the problem is but starting to believe that I may need to replace CPU and motherboard (which, if I understand my warranties correctly, may not be possible due to my overclocking endeavors).

    To find the memory dump: file explorer > this PC > C: drive > right upper corner search > type: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP

    There were 3 BSOD mini dump files in the zip today 9/8 and when debugged none display a definitive misbehaving driver.
    There was 1 BSOD mini dump file in the zip yesterday 9/7 and when debugged it did not display a definitive misbehaving driver.

    There was an application crash today that was caused by Intel Linpack.


    Windows failed fast startup.

    The memory dump displayed 1 misbehaving hardware driver.

    The misbehaving driver was: nvlddmkm.sys



    The best way to fix the misbehaving Nvidia driver is to uninstall everything Nvidia using Display driver uninstaller and install new drivers from from the Nvidia website.

    When you use the Nvidia web site be sure the "clean install" box is checked and only install the graphics driver and the physx driver.
