DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION BSOD During BIOS Update, Computer Won't POST

So I got a computer from a client who attempted to update his BIOS from Windows. BIG newbie mistake. So he said that he fired up ASUS Update (another mistake) and loaded up the update confirming that it was for the correct board. It got past the erasing and writing portion, than the update froze at 2% of the verification stage, before he got a DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION. Unlike many BSOD's he told me that this error just sat there at 0% of collection error details. So he restarted the computer and there was no post.

So, I removed the graphics card and tried to see if there was post through OnBoard graphics, but nothing. Tried removing all the drives, nothing. I cannot seem to get it to post. Anything I should do before telling him he bricked the board

Only if he made a backup of the original BIOS software before he did the upgrade would make the motherboard work again. It's bricked.

What Asus mobo exactly ? Actually pretty hard to brick an Asus board. Does it not have two bios chips?

No that's gigiabyte. It was the Asus M4A785TD-V EVO, and had one chip. The crashfree BIOS was overwritten as well

The crashfree bios is only a utility to fix a borked bios update. Don't know how you can overwrite that. Seen funnier things happen on pc though for sure. I guess this is the procedure you tried...

Worst comes to worst just put a new bios chip in and away you go.

Yup. I have been on the ASUS ROG forums from some post in 2010 and ASUS update overwrote the CrashFree BIOS on that mobo, Its probably done for. Found a cheap AM3 board on ebay, not worth shipping costs to a lab so the chip can be reprogrammed.
