Amazon is reportedly flogging fake AMD Ryzen processors

Good thing Amazon has reasonably good customer service. You Ryzen builders be careful.

    2 things...

    1) If the price seems to good to be true, it probably is... and is probably a fake, or dud.
    2) Only deal with Amazon themselves, not the Marketplace unless you for sure know (of) the vendor.

In the end, it pays to stick with known authorized dealers, especially where electronics are concerned.

That said, unfortunately Amazon is also being victimized by their bend over backwards customer service, with dishonest people taking advantage of them...

It's unclear exactly what is happening, but reports claim that Amazon*is selling products that have been returned, with the original buyer switching out the processor for an old Intel Celeron chip before returning it. Provided the weight and appearance were close enough to the real thing to fool Amazon, the scammer is bagging themselves a free Ryzen CPU.*

It was just a matter of time. Same things were happening with most other ones. I remember when Celorons were relabeled as Pentium 4 en mass.

I cannot believe how dishonest people can get and live with themselves. And I bet these same people get livid if somebody takes advantage of them.

Politicians do it all the time.

The only problem I've had with Amazon is their process of different companies/stores fulfilling the orders. Dealing with Amazon about a bad order frequently has one having to deal with the company/store that was involved. A sample listing for a Toshiba Canvio portable HDD with the information that I look for:
    In Stock.

Ships from and sold by Amazon.com. Gift-wrap available.

    Emphasis mine.

True. I won't buy anything from Amazon unless it has that ships-and-sold-by indicator.
