OverClock FX-6300
Hey guys,
I want to try my hand at overclocking since I now how my first desktop ever. I know I bought a bottom line PC and it's going to stay this way for awhile. (my Christmas gift from my wife is a AM4 MB, Ryzen 7 CPU and RAM, but I have to wait for Christmas.)
I have a stock CPU cooler, 75W GPU and a 500W PSU. How far should I be able to push this chip with stock cooling?
Thanks for any advice.

Hi copiertech25
With a stock cooler and as OCing generates heat not very far but yes try your hand with small increments but do keep an eye on your temps and system stability

Thanks. I think I'll bring it up slowly then order a Corsair Closed Loop water cooler for the heck of it.

I was playing around in the bios tonight and somehow messed with existing settings and the CPU fan was running at 100% for awhile. Finally figured out what settings I messed up. Looks like I can disable "turbo boost" and run my processor at 4Ghz no problem. We will see on another day.

4Ghz with the AMD Turbo disabled was stable but 4.1Ghz would not even boot. Have it at 4Ghz now will play some more tomorrow. This is exciting!

FX is a joy to overclock. I have managed to overclock my 4100 just by setting multiplier to max.

How about MB ? Very important component for OCing.

My MB is a MSI 760GMA-P34.
Ugh, don't expect much from that MB, very low VRM on it no matter how much you cool the processor.

Thanks for that info!
