Thanks Dude. Our internet is DSL & slow, so the Windows 10 image file took about 8 hours to download 3.4Gb of data. The MS tech insists on creating the thumb drive for install & will call back later today, about 5:30 EDT. That's fine as I'm doing some extra cleaning of the case & also took the SSD drive (former C: ) out & saved data off it on a laptop PC so a clean install can be done over it. The MS tech insisted that all drives be reformatted to do a clean install but two of those drives are 2Tb & one is 1.5 Tb & all three are just photo, video & Oops Backup data so I can't see the need & have no means of storing that data elsewhere.

I am gun-shy about flashing the BIOS after the last crash & burn. The Gigabyte tech should understand their products & insisted that the reason BIOS failed was because of the former Intel CPU Windows 10 install still being present. I was thinking using @BIOS this time.

Just clean install windows as already suggested.
If you're talking about doing a clean install after a BIOS update, there's absolutely no need to do such a thing.

What needs to be done after a BIOS update is to Load Optimized defaults to insure the BIOS sets the correct default settings. After that, you can customize if need be.

Settle down fellas, please. Everyone at Ten Forums has always been very helpful. I appreciate everyones advice.

My PC is healthy again. Microsoft only asked to view my purchased motherboard & from there the install was a breeze. I have lots of driver software to download & get resettled in but there are no issues so far.

The BIOS is F6 & will need to be updated to F7 if I have issues.

    More later! Thank everyone.

Quote by Dude:"I think you will need to clean install. Make sure you have installation keys for all your software so reinstall will go smooth."

At this moment I'm working with Microsoft, downloading a new Windows 10 image to do a clean install. When you made the post above a couple of days ago I was under the impression that I wouldn't need to do that as I would need a new Win 10 license because the current C: had at lease part of my Windows info on it.

Anyway, I when ahead with the hardware swap & had all kinds of issues. In the end I tried to update the BIOS which failed & apparently corrupted the MB. My new MB arrived today & is the same brand but a different model (Gigabyte GA-AB350-Gaming 3). This time I called Gigabyte before proceeding with the re-install, thinking installing BIOS update to F7 before connecting the old C: would work out this time. Under no certain terms he made it clear that with Win 10 installed with an Intel CPU on that drive would cause all types of driver issues. Clean install was the only option with a different AMD CPU & MB. It probably would of been okay with another Intel CPU & MB but not an AMD.

I didn't understand then why then but sure do now! Your advice was spot on, Dude! I'll update how all this goes but I believe this explains why I had all the issues. I'll post progress.
When i swap motherboards on the same platform it works right away but the problem is if it ia a new board it's always a must to reinstall windows then you would be ok to go

I have the Gigabyte MB disk loaded checking drivers & it has an AMD patch file v12.0.30501 & AMD AM4 chipset driver v16.50.2601 @ 1.68Gb to install.

The AMD's Internet site shows v17.10 @ 192Mb as the latest. Is v17.10 just a patch updating v16.50.2601?
