    Well its now here:

Slight problem is, I have it plugged in and powered on using the supplied tester and I can hear an electrical cracking sound from within. The sound coming from around the socket where the plug plugs int to. WOuld not think I would here it when in my system but trying to decide if I should go through all the trouble of installing it and to find it is a fault.

    Suggestions always welcome.

Only thing I can think of, is to call EVGA's tech support, and ask them their opinion. They are pretty good people.

I have just sent the UK customer support an email explaining the problem.

I have in the last 10 minuets just received and opened my new EVGA Supernova 1000 G3 and it looks fantastic. I have used the supplied tester to confirm that this new unit functions correctly (Turn on and fan spins) in which it does. The problem is that I can hear a very audible crackling/electricity sound coming from within the unit around the area of the Plug socket. I have never heard that sound before on any other PSU I have purchased and I am looking for some advice in this matter. A quick response would be very much appreciated.

    Kindest Regards

    Mr Andrew Mitchell

I like the paper trail email provides. I have every confidence that EVGA will do what's best for the customer.

    Thanks Mike and Steve

Good News: Packaged up and ready for collection back to amazon tomorrow.

Bad News: Replacement won't be available until 17th September.

Nice looking PS. Glad to see they shipped with all black cables instead of those red PCIE cables. Also like that it has Eco Mode, I really like that feature as it keeps fan noise low. I'm surprised at the size though, thought it would be a big bigger (longer) but I guess they're going for a smaller footprint.

Anyway sorry to hear your unit is defective and you have to send it back. That sucks. Even worse now is the short supply and ridiculously long wait time for a new replacement. That said, have you looked at the G2? It's pretty much the same PS only older. I've got an older G2 (non eco switch) and it's still working well. Bought it in 2014.
