Cheers Slippery for you insights, will investigate further.Hi @worf105, another vote for the newer corsair PSU's. If you go that way, read the specs on the 2 different RM gold series. One uses 100% Japanese transistors, the other not.
A SWAG on your problem, since we have very similar builds except I have a regular vid card.
I sometimes get BSOD's with same symptoms your having when fooling around with overclock formulas. It always turns out to be low voltage.(one of my prime OC prerequisites is keeping overvolting to a minimum because of NO $ for letting the smoke out of any hardware LOL) This happened with my old Corsair PSU which was also a Corsair 850. I replaced it with the new one in my sig and that quirky problem still exists if I push CPU or VID too far on too little voltage. You might try raising voltage just a teany tiny nudge and see if problem goes away.
Ps: The PSU in my sig is the model with the 100% Japanese transistors but does not have the "control with Corsair Link software" because Corsair Link is too flaky to burden with more work. The 11 year old TX 850 PSU still works 100%. I just wanted full modular (no room for cables in economy case.
