Brand New Build not even a week old

My first custom build, I must say she runs sweet!
I may have gone overkill on some things but I plan on expansion

Windows 10 Pro Creators Update 1703 Build 10563.250

CPU - Intel Core i5 6500 3.2GHZ Quad Core Skylake (not over clocked)

CPU Cooling - cooler master Hyper 212 EVO

Power Supply - Corsair RM 850 modular

Motherboard - Gigabyte LGA 1151 Z170-HD3 DDR4 slots x's 4

Ram - Corsair Vengeance DDR4 8 GB each x's 2

HDDs - Seagate 2 TB BarraCuda SATA 6Gb/s 7200 RPM 64MB Cache x's 2

Optical Drive - Asus 24x DVD-RW

Monitor AOC G2460 24" Gaming LED Monitor using HDMI

Tower - Thermaltake Chaser A71 Full tower w/ 4 case fans, usb 2.0 ports x's 8, usb 3.0 ports x' 2. Internally can accomodate up to 8 HDD's w/ quick change bays and 3 optical drives.

That is a nice build so congarts to you; however, I was just wondering why you did not include an M.2 SSD?

Mainly price, I basically got 4 TB SATA HDD space for what I would pay for a 250 GB M.2 SSD.

I like space to know I can download or save just about anything and SSD price and capacity wise as compared to SATA HDD's is just not where I'd like them to be. Newegg advertises at 1TB stick of M.2 SSD for $375, I can by 8TB + SATA for that. I'm not discounting the technology but price wise it's just not comparable yet. SSD may be faster than SATA but I can deal with the extra milliseconds until the price is more to where it needs to be.

Its way, way more than a few milliseconds. You can get a 512GB Intel 600p for about $169.' I would run the OS and apps on that and use your other drive for storage.

Your m.2 slot is capable of using M.2 PCIE SSDs which are even faster than traditional SSDs:

This one can support up to 3,000 Mbps (that's 4 times faster than a traditional SATA 3 SSD @ 600 Mbps):

Just keep it in mind in case you want to upgrade in the future but right now you have a very nice rig.

It's more than milliseconds and is arguably one of the biggest upgrades any PC can undergo. And I'm never one to tell anyone how to spend their money, but a 250 gig Samsung 960 EVO NVMe drive can be had for $127 bucks on Amazon. I can pretty much guarantee once you see how fast your system boots and performs with an SSD drive as the OS, you'll be like wow.... should have done this sooner. Trust us

Anyway nice system. I remember the excitement of my first PC build. Didn't build it myself, but it was a custom build. Couldn't tear myself away from the thing. My second PC on has always been a custom build. Just the sheer excitement of building your own never gets old.

If you wait for the price of a ssd to drop, then you will never get one.

All you need is a 256 or 250 GB for windows and all your programs. If you`re a gaming freak then you can install your games on your hard drive.

I am planning to but am having a hard time choosing between all the different brands, my head keeps telling me to go with Corsair but it is the more pricier than the rest and seems to sell out quicker than the rest ..... any opinions or advice?
