RAM for Ryzen....

Not familiar with your ASUS board, but from what I have read, you should be able to go back to a older bios. Have to do this by putting older bios on a thumb drive, then place it in the correct usb slot in rear of your rig. On mine, there is ONE specific usb slot made just for this purpose Mike. I would check with ASUS on this....or even in your manual. Mine shows me which port to use to flash back. You need to download the bios version you want, from ASUS, then place it on your thumb drive.

It's this stupid new 0612 BIOS that wouldn't let me revert to any earlier. I just red it in again, has no problem with that, it's older ones it wouldn't. I can see the files(s) thru BIOS EzUpdate but it says that it's wrong one. Anyway, AGESA code 1.0.0.6 is ready just got to wait until they incorporate it in BIOS.
Other problem may be that this Kingston doesn't have same profiles like MB, Kingston has 3000MHz on one profile and MB 2993MHz for instance. Without BLCK I can't fine tune it.

Ok If it still bugs you thou, I would still check.....most of our ASUS boards can be put back to an older bios version. Surprised that yours won't ....I would let ASUS know about this too. Would piss me off too Mike :)

Still surprised you can't d/l the bios you want, put it on a usb stick, and install ....they list 6 on the web page for you to d/l

Fascinating video, and thank you. I don't even pretend to understand much of it but that AGESA thing looks amazing. I am now running on a Ryzen chip and MB, I got it on my sons recommendation in my new set up (see spec). I 'only' have 16GB RAM onboard DDR4, and was thinking in the future of doubling that. I have no idea how this may or may not affect my setup but I do admit I like it, although on occasion, it does seem to 'hiccup' and run a little slow, then back to normal.

Long story short, that new AGESA code (incorporated in BIOS) is supposed to ad more commands to RAM controller and so make it more compatible with other RAM makes and models that can be recognized properly and run at full rated speed. So we should be able to use very high speed RAM. For any normal use 16GB is quite enough, I'm getting by with 8GB for now and at no time there was an error about lack of free memory.

no error messages here about lack of RAM at all Mike, thanks for the update. I was told by the rig builders that 16 GB was plenty, but I have two spare slots for another 16 if I want it.
