The main thing straying me away from the IPS over the TN version is all the reports of bad backlight bleed. Though I almost never have my monitors turned up to higher than 60% brightness.

Well. I just sold my PC at home for a nice $900. So I'm going to get the IPS monitor and do it rite.
I have my pg279q at 45% brightness , its very bright :) If you want any help calibrating it heres my settings to try :)
Ive tried a few ICC colour profiles and i found the one on the driver disk to be the best (google it if you dont know how to install it its easy :) )
brightness 46
contrast 50
colour temp user mode
red 97
green 93
blue 100
blue light filter 0
image/od ... normal
and youll have to overclock it to get to its 165 hz itll be 144 default :)
Sweet! Just ordered. I figured until I can get a better GPU I was gonna a set the monitor at 120hz. I don't think my poor little 1070 can get the full 165hz in my games. Lol
Now in a year or so, I'll be buying a new GPU
Its hard work getting the full potential out of 165hz the better your gpu the higher you'll push your res and eye candy , only game that really benifits for me is BF1 i can push 150 fps at 1440 in ultra , but thats with 2 1080's .
One thing i will add which in my humble opinion is the BEST thing to happen in gaming hardware for years is GSync , you cant describe how good it is until you try it but once you have you wont ever be able to game without it :)
The monitor has an inbuilt refresh rate monitor (it calls it an fps monitor but its actually showing frequency) so its on easy way (apart from the red light) to make sure gsync is working properly ingame)
Trust me , if you have never tried gsync your in for a treat
I have used gsync before in a laptop but only 75hz. What are your settings for gsync? Do u have vsync turned on? Or running gsync without vsync?
vsync forced off fps capped to 160 , vsync is enabled by default with gsync , so you have gsync up until fps exceeds frequency its then disabled and vsync kicks in to stop tearing , but as you know vsync brings horrible mouse lag . For me id rather force it off and make sure my fps doesnt exceed 165 :)
