Monitor Recommendations needed for a 4k gaming build

Dear all, your assistance is greatly needed! I've been going through Newegg, Amazon, and Bestbuy's product pages trying to find something that fits what I'm looking for and have been coming up empty. Here are the parameters I've been trying to search in:

• budget of ~$1k
• non-curved
• G-sync and/or > 60hz refresh rate (Free sync wont work, because it's a Nvidia build)
• ideally > 30"
• > 2K resolution

I would think that's a pretty easily doable search, but maybe my google-fu has gotten too rusty. Something like this (the Acer Predator X34) would be perfect, except that I don't want a curved screen. Perhaps every monitor 30" or over is curved though. Any insight or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! I'm happy to "over-buy" and wait on a price alert if that's what's necessary.

Something I never considered until I was given an ASUS 27" monitor, the Inputs. This one has 4, DisplayPort, VGA, DVI and HDMI. I work on computers and have had 2 clients bring me Notebooks for repair, both had broken screens and only the HDMI output port available [not the traditional VGA Projector port]. I was able to use that big monitor to recover data from both. I have it connected to a Desktop with VGA but only need to press a button on the monitor to change Inputs as needed [without disconnecting others], quite handy.

Hey Berton! Nice to see you again, and good thought! I don't really need a whole lot of inputs, but I do occasionally use my "desktop replacement" laptop when troubleshooting the actual desktop, so it couldn't hurt. It's my understanding that I'll need to buy a newer-version Display Port cable if I want to utilize the GSync feature anyways.

I have these two one is 3440X1440P The other is 2560X1440P

4k you will need a 1080 at least i used a 1070 couldn't handle my 34" 4K

These are pretty much Top Tier choices but ultimately it's your choice also curved monitors do you more justice then none curved just saying you actually can see better because it's curved to fit your eyes because your eyes are actually curved too

I do have a 1080. I'm afraid it might be that the kind of monitor I'm looking for just doesn't exist yet. :/ I've checked out both those models, but the first one is curved and the second one is almost perfect--I just wish it was at least 3" larger...

I understand a lot of people liked curved screens, but I've read some stuff and checked out a friend's top of the line 65" curved TV and it was just too weird. Hate to be a buzzkill, but I'm just not into it. (3D gives me headaches too. :/) Thanks for the input though!!

No worries but it is hard to find a 30" Gsync monitor non curved

Too bad LG doesn't do G-sync their monitors would be worthy if they did

What's your location if you had a Microcenter or Fry's Electronics they pretty much have all the best in monitors you could be looking for also the BenQ brand is overly popular as well

Yeah, that's what I'm coming to find. I asked Dell's customer service, and the CSR just came up with a 28" non-curved monitor at 60Hz with 4K as their best option. :/ I'll look into BenQ next probably. EDIT: Did look into BenQ; they have something pretty close too, the BenQ PD3200U, it's 32" with full 4K, non-curved, but only a 60Hz refresh rate. Looks like the decision will be between screen size/resolution and a high refresh rate. How painful.

I'm in the middle of the Midwest, so the only electronics stores in my town and nearby are Best Buy's. I did just check, and there is a Microcenter about 1.5 hours away...might be worth the trip just to see some stuff in person...

Just FYI if you take a trip down look at the website mark your location and check the adds sometimes they have hidden gems in their webpages due to location

Someone like me who will return a product simply because my needs are much more than it can provide which means most of the time nothing is wrong with it at all the person just didn't like it

Interesting, another good tip for anyone reading this thread is to make sure, if you do want to go look at some higher refresh-rate monitors, that the demos are set up to actually run at 144 Hz. I stopped by Best Buy today, and the guy had a few higher refresh-rate monitors, but none of them were actually set up to run at that higher rate. He didn't even know that until I asked him to check how they were connected: it was first-generation HDMI, which can't even transmit above 60Hz... He promised to get a display port cable and hook it up to something that could display a bit higher than that so I can check it out after work. Annoying when you know more as a consumer about consumer electronics....
