I always load the newest chipset from the MB site
thank you Dude.
I see 2 downloads.
one is for the chipset engine.
the other is smaller. it says utility. when I unzipped it, I see 2 applications. not quite sure what to do with that.
do you have any advice?
one of them is labeled Asus.
maybe just don't even do that download?
update: I just did the engine update. all is well. :)

now I'm curious.
I did do the Utility driver installation.
but the main one (the larger one), when I double click the application, I get a window that says:
Setup
Intel Management Engine Components
Select the operation you wish to perform.
now you can select either 1 of 2 things:
- Removes the product from your computer.
- Repairs errors in the most recent installation by fixing missing and corrupt files, shortcuts, and registry entries.
I did the second one.
and restarted.
then I started the application again. and I am wondering if I should do the first choice. (like maybe thats necesssary, before the new driver is installed?
I am completely clueless. Dude, what did you do to update?
all set.
I did uninstall it.
then I went to the Install folder and installed it. I think all is well.
thank you Dude. :) :)
and thank you for telling me about the Overclockers forum. super friendly replies and help there too.
I am writing to ask please for help?
I was using my computer, playing a piano program. I was playing intensely.
then, my monitor went black. just for a second. then it came back on.
no messages.
later on, I checked in Event Viewer.
in Windows Logs / System there are 2 Warnings.
they both occurred at the same time,
the Source is Display. the Event ID is 4101.
in General, it says "Display driver igfx stopped responding and has successfully recovered."
I looked in Device Manager. I went to Display adapters/ Intel(R) HD Graphics 630 / Update Driver Software. search. when the search is done, I get the message "The best driver software for your device is already installed, Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date."
any ideas, guys?
awesome.
could you possibly please recommend one?
There are MANY choices for you to choose from, depending on how much money you want to spend. Nvidia cards are very good. But the difference being how much you want to spend. They can go from like 150.00 to over 600.00 dollars for a high end card. I don't think you need any high end card. You can check out prices and reviews on Amazon, just to see what other people are buying and there reviews about the cards they bought.
