    Tame Corsair H100i Fan Noise

I have a new installation with a Corsair H100i CPU cooler. I have the radiator and two fans mounted to the top of my case (BeQuiet Silent Base 600). I use the PC for my recording studio system and even at idle the fans will sound like they are pulsating (speeding up and slowing back down). I have the Corsair set for Balanced Profile. I can set it to Quiet Profile and it quiets the fans but as soon as something is done the fans speed way up and are noisy.

I can get some "Quiet" fans, but just wondering if there is anything else I can do. My full system specs are in "My System Specs".

Have you looked into the Noctua fans...

These are some of the quietest fans available and they push or pull a good amount of air.....

The fans are notoriously loud when their speeds are ramping up and down. I read a review somewhere (Guru 3D maybe) reviewing then dual 140l fans, similar to mine. They loved the cooler but said the same thing about noise and suggested a fixed fan control which you can set up in the Link software.

Look at mine. In the software you can set the fans to a fixed percent or fixed RPM. I have my PC right on top of my desk so I can hear everything clearly. I played with the fixed speeds and found that a fixed RPM of 1150-1200 is a level where I hardly hear the fans. My idle CPU temps are in the 20's and under gaming load I hardly ever hit the 50's. YMMV depending on overall case cooling, usage etc. Always keep an eye on temps.

I didn't realize I could manually set the fan speed. I'll give it a try and see how it works. Thanx

I've got it set for a maximum of 1400 rpm. Found it by accident, as its not very intuitive on how to do it.

I'll see how this works with the recording studio application (Sonar Platinum).

I don't think the lower speed configuration of the stock Corsair fans is a permanent solution. Running Sonar (my recording studio program), with a small project upped the temp, not bad, around 40 C but higher than with the default settings. One issue, the radiator and fans are mounted on the top of the BeQuiet Silent Base 600 case and I had to remove the rear panel case fan as there was not enough space for the rear Corsair fan. Other than the two fans for the Corsair H100i cooler there is only the front panel case fan. This may attribute to the higher CPU temps. I'm not using a separate video card which does help minimize heat, but I do have two PCIe USB 2.0 port cards and one PCIe Firewire 400/800 card installed.

I have two options, as I see it. Try some "quiet" fans or use a different CPU cooler. My old system used a Thermatake liquid cooler and the fans and radiator mounted where the rear case fan would mount. I'll start with the fans since that is the cheapest option.

The custom fan speed setting didn't "stick". This morning when I powered on the fans started the pulsating sound again. Only after opening the Corsair Link the fans quieted down again. Since the H100i takes up so much case space, I may opt for a different cooler and leaning toward a Thermatake as I had one in my old PC and it was not "noisy".

I have the H100i v2 and never used the default fans that came with it. I bought two Corsair lighted fans, and they run just fine for me. replacing your existing fans is a lot cheaper too.

The custom fan will always stick, at start up or reboot. But you have to enable Link to start up with Windows. It starts minimized to the tray.

I also assume your fixed profile is set as your default profile.
