Boot failure, stops with VGA LED lit

Recently rebuilt my system with new:
    ASUS Z170-A motherboard
    i5 6600-K
    16Mb Ram
and 1 year old (previously faultess) graphics card MSI GeForce GTX 970
and 850W PSU from my old system.

Has been running fine for last 2 weeks since first built - not been overclocked.
Switched on this morning. Screen locked at Win 10 login.
System then, without prompting, restarted several times (4 maybe 5 times) each slightly different with BSOD messages saying windows needs to repair. Never saw Win 10 logon screen again. System eventually hangs with a blank system (ie no signal to monitor).
This Motherboard has component testing indicator LEDS which illuminate and then go out when each component passes POST.
During POST, CPU and RAM test ok but system hangs with VGA LED on.

Removed garphics card and connected monitor to on-board DIV socket. No difference, system still hangs during at VGA LED.
Cleared CMOS with jumper, No difference.

I think my new motherboard has just had a terminal failure.
Anything else I can check ?

Can you enter the UEFI setup by repeatedly pressing Delete immediately after power on?

Im not getting to the point where the monitor comes to life during the early boot up it seems, not even the boot screen with the motherboard logo appears.
Monitor is working though, tested it using my laptop.

I was having a similar issue where it would fail to boot and it started happening after i switch to a 4k Monitor

Anyway i had to do a Bios update and it cleared the stuck post and boot

    Thanks for the reply.
Im at a situation where boot up stops before there is no signal to the monitor and so it stays in standby mode awaiting an anologue or digital signal.
Im interested to know how you did a BIOS update when the MB wont even boot up to the point where it communicates with periherals or HDD.
