Is there a reset switch to sleep button USB header adapter?

My case has a reset switch, which is useless. I'd like to convert it into a sleep button. The motherboard doesn't support it, but I have two spare USB 2.0 headers. is there some sort of adapter I can buy? Kind of like an ecobutton that plugs into a USB mobo header and conects to a case button through standard pins?

    Thanks..

Some computers and cases don't accommodate the traditional Reset switch and some motherboards won't have a provision for such. I know some folks who can't wait the 6 seconds or so to do a hard shutdown of a computer but then Notebooks have been without that switch for quite awhile.

As for using the USB headers you mentioned, I wouldn't want to try altering them, could blow up the motherboard. Some cases have more than 2 front USB ports which can be quite handy with a board that can accommodate them rather than add an additional card to get more ports on the back. It is becoming important for some folks having more ports as more things have gone to USB over the last several years.

Why not just create a hotkey to put it to sleep rather than brick the motherboard?

The MSI 970 Gaming board has headers for reset, hence my question if OP is still using his MB listed in specs. Page 1-21 of manual.

I do have reset headers on my 970. My point is I don't want a reset switch, nor do I want an unattached button on my front panel. I set ACPI power to sleep my computer, but if I could reuse the reset switch as a sleep/shutdown button then that would be great (I was already planning on repurposing my hdd led as a sleep led next time I open my case).

What I was hoping for was a tiny device that plugs into a USB header and accepts the reset switch header pins, which would trigger a system sleep when pressed. After discovering the ecoButton simply emulates a keyboard and enters "Win+R, ecobutton.exe", I'm just trying to find out if anything programmable exists that can fit in there. like a miniaturized version of an audrino and a breadboard.

Further research seems to indicate that nothing like that exists, so I'll probably just leave it. Kind of a shame, as such a device would be useful for a case mod where you have multiple LEDs or buttons that run different computer commands or be triggered by different events.

The problem with the Reset pins on a motherboard is that any method of connecting to them will simply kill the power momentarily. The USB ports would be a problem as they usually provide only data paths and 5V to devices connected to them. It was much easier working/modding with the old AT motherboards as the power supply was controlled by switches on the front of the case while ATX/microATX motherboards control the power supply. Could I interest you in an AT computer with Win98? It only needs a battery for the CMOS to save the BIOS settings, needs to be soldered on.

That's not what I'm referring to. I could draw some pictures if you like.

I think I understand what you want to do. I don't think there is device on market but if you are a real tinkerer you could likely put something together. I say this as I look down at my keyboard and see a sleep switch and my keyboard is USB connected. Now how you would do it would be another thing.

Now i could be wrong and there is a device but I think pick up would be slow. Lots of keyboards have the crescent moon within the function keys, others like mine are standalone and you can convert your power button to be a sleep button. With so much competition I would think sales would be small.

    Good luck.
