I like your 2nd choice myself, I like ASUS MB's plus with that board being a LGA 1151 type, gives you more choices for upgrading your Intel CPU,in the future. I never cared much for AMD ....sorry no offense ment, just have always preferred Intel chips. When I built my system I used Amazon, because there prices are better, and they are very easy to deal with if you need to return something, Good Customer Support. :)

I agree with Mike. Personal opinion, stick with the Intel. I can't argue the price point of the AMD set, but IME they tend to run hot and most PC's with AMD that I've worked on had performance issues.

I'll be the opposite here, my first computer in '92 had an AMD 80386/40MHz CPU, a bit faster than Intel or Cyrix at the time. I have both AMD Custom and Intel OEM machines now. Heat hasn't been a big problem with either, mostly that case fans tend to be louder than the CPU fans so shopping for quieter models is necessary.

At your price points I think you will be happy with either choice.....

That being said if it were my build at this pricing I would consider looking for a board from ASUS for your AMD build......having built a good number of systems and reviewing motherboards for a good number of years a while back I found ASUS to offer the best overall boards......Yes, I understand that many will disagree with that statement but it is just this old man's opinion.....

I'll add that I got a new computer last month from ASUS, works quite good with the AMD CPU on the ASUS board.

i typically prefer asus, but in the case of the amd set up i found the gigabyte the much better bang for the buck.

In the case of the Intel build, there is no reason you would need the Hyper 212 cooler on an i3 cpu. Use the stock cooler and save yourself $45.

I almost always use gigabyte or asus boards. Both have served well.
