Thanks Mike. I'm hoping to go to 4GHz with the new build.

With AMD the cooler colder they better, the can handle volts better than Intel, and volts means GHz.

Ryzen shuts down at 95c but there are stability issues at 72 -75c already. Even BIOS lets voltage go over 1.5v but that's already at 4.2 -4.3GHz and no good in ling run. Best stability is with 1.4v, no more. That's on 2nd gen, 1st gen 4GHz tops with reasonable voltage.

Give'em time to perfect the process. Ryzen is still relatively new, but yeah, the smaller architecture gets too hot and also electron leakage(quantum tunneling) thru the finns.

They make them pretty well maxed out now. I compare them with an old time big block V8 engine. A lot of cubes but relatively low horsepower. Didn't take too much to triple or quadruple HP, we did it in home garages. We "overclocked them quite regularly, Holly carburetor, headers and camshaft, eventually an Edelbrock intake and presto, twice the HP.
Newer ones are smaller and can make some serious horses from factory but can't do much more to them.
