    2017 Hardware Thread

Well it's that time of year where we have some interesting new Hardware choices

So Kaby-Lake has been released but honestly no need for it because Skylake performs pretty much the same or better at the same speed given Kaby-Lake can OC higher

Also we have The New Z270 Platform

    Bunch of Intel refresh ......

Now we are on to AMD they have Ryzen that can compete with a 6900k CPU @3.6 Ghz with a Turbo that goes to 4.0 with more room to push

    Also Vega GPU's

    So what are your thoughts.............

I upgraded to Skylake in December and I'm loving my hardware. I don't see the need to immediately go out and get Kaby Lake. I will probably stay with this setup for 3 years or so.

I like the "overclock higher" part. I'm also anxious to see what the 1080 TI is really like, if it is ever released. So far everything about it has been rumors.

I heard they can reach 5Ghz with ease ,I thought about it but i am happy at 4.7 Ghz stable with less voltage on a offset mode

I'll be building a Ryzen rig, just for the sake of doing it, but.....I don't really hold much hope that they'll compete with the IPC of Skylake / Broadwell E. 8 cores / 16 threads in a good AMD CPU will be a welcome addition to my collection, though, for sure.

I did the same just this month. From what I understand with a BIOS update a Kaby Lake will drop in our motherboards but I think there are other benefits the Z170 chipset would not take advantage of. I'm really loving this system as well and considering I ran an i7 920 for the last seven years I doubt an upgrade will be necessary anytime soon. Companies need to keep innovating or watch their stock value drop, but I don't need to drop coin every time they bring their latest to market.
