    You got that right.

Normal stuff, Worf, having to wait for newest generation hardware. Same happened to me at 1080 release. While waiting, perhaps spend your time thinking about when you will hit the 10K mark in Time Spy.

No more 7K scores for you.

NVIDIA GTX 2070 and GTX 2080 graphics card release could be just months away
As you know, the GTX 10 lineup is fast approaching the end of its lifecycle, prompting the company to roll out the full blown Pascal chip in the Titan Xp graphics card. Apart from that, the company also quietly released the low-end GTX 1030. Based on their upgrade cycle, we should expect to see their new cards sometime by the end of this year or in early 2018. The MyDriver report, however, claims that this has been advanced by at least couple of months till Q3 2017.
The possible reasoning behind said move may have something to do with the fact that the management does not seem too amused by the sales figures (read: profit), which probably has a lot to do with the higher expenses of R&D, as well as the relative failure to fully utilize the upgrade cycle.
If that’s the case, a third-quarter release of the GeForce GTX 20-series could help the company capitalize on the lack of competition, thus leading to an increase in the market share. As a matter of fact, even if Vega launches around the same period, it is unlikely to do any notable damage to the highest-end NVIDIA cards.
Also, according to a credible leakster from Baidu, NVIDIA is implementing certain basic optimization of the SM in the GeForce 20 series. However, it would probably be a bit unrealistic to expect a total overhaul similar to the one we saw during the Kepler to Maxwell transition.

I'm sure you will be able to hit 10K + on at least your graphic score. Look at Solarstarshines, 10.5K.

What impresses me the most are those stock game benchmarks. BF 1 for example, 1080P Ultra 223 average FPS, 1440P Ultra 135FPS and 77 average FPS at 4K. Not much of a gamer's need for SLI (when it works) with single GPU numbers like that.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 and GeForce GTX 1060 With Updated Memory Architecture Unleashed

NVIDIA is unleashing both, the GeForce GTX 1080 and GTX 1060 graphics cards today. The graphics card utilize the GP104 and GP106 GPUs which launched last year. Although the core specifications remain the same, the memory has been updated with faster clock rates. This allows NVIDIA to harness more power/ performance gains out of the updated cards.

The first update is for the GeForce GTX 1080 which was NVIDIA’s flagship GeForce offering before the 1080 Ti launch. This card was launched last year and more details on that could be seen here. NVIDIA launched the card at $699 US for the Founders Edition and $599 US for custom variants. A year later, NVIDIA is now offering a price update and selling the card for just $499 US, which is impressive.

Video cards are a vicious circle. For those who want to stay at the very top, it's like constant motion, or zero motion for those who want to wait, because once Q3 gets here, something new will be expected in Q1 of the next year. I can understand the dilemma as paying for these latest gen cards is very expensive. This is why I like to set a budget limit, and I just buy the best card I can find for that price. I try to keep my GPU's at $300. It has served me well enough, but for those pushing these cards to the limit, I can see that not working for you.

What pparks says is true, and I don't have to always have the top card. But, when I pay the money and pre order one of the top cards right now and before it is delivered they announce the next generation of cards to come out in a couple of months, that's a little much for me. I knew all along they would come out with a better card sooner or later, but for that kind of money, I expected to be close to the top for 4 or 5 months, at least. It's beginning to look like it may be 6 weeks.

I understand what you are saying Steve. The Ti is a beast, but I would be bummed too. I have been going a little higher with each upgrade. I went from(going back just a few years) a 660 to a 760. Then a step up to 970, then 1070. I was just about to go for a 1080, but as close as it is it would be best to wait for me. I can get a 2070 or maybe move up to a 2080. They need to release a Nvidia 365 edition(like office) then we can get the top dog, and with each upgrade get a free trade in. That is a joke, but you can use the EVGA step up and upgrade soon too

Well, I haven't decided. The step up program is for the reference editions only. I don't like them.
