Anyone here looking at getting one of the new Microsoft Surface Book Pro's (supposedly the Pro 2)?

I was pretty much set to get the Surface Book with Performance Base - 1TB / Intel*Core*i7. With my school discount it drops to around 2800. Still steep but something I want.

Anyway I've been reading rumors about the impending release of the SB Pro 2 sometime within the next couple of weeks. Possibly with the Creator's update release if some of those rumors are to believed. The Pro 2 is said to be using the Kaby Lake processors, true 4K monitor, an upgraded NVidia graphics card, plus minor tweaks here and there. There's also the newly released rumor now that the notebook may will be just a standard clamshell notebook instead of the just having the removable base.

I'm getting one, I'm just awaiting to release news and pricing.

    Thoughts?
Are you gonna game on it? Then a 1080p would be much better(way more FPS). A 4K is only good for graphic artist and CAD users.

    A notebook? or their notebook?

Kind of torn now because one the most appealing attraction of the SB Pro is the ability to remove the base and just use it as a pad. If they move to a clamshell system, that might make me think twice.
Any notebook, Drew. I have a laptop but my wife is the only one who ever uses it. I've always thought the Surface had excellent hardware, but I have little use for any notebook. I'm just a Desktop guy, I guess.

I'm a photographer, so 4K would be sweet. I don't game on laptops.

I think most of us here are desktop people; however, I'm also a student, photographer, and move around a lot so a laptop is a must as well. With, the use of OneDrive, it makes owning a laptop even easier. When I'm at school, or out and about, and using my laptop, I just drop the files I was working on in OneDrive and when I get home pickup from there on the desktop.

Gaming isn't an issue because I'm not buying one for gaming considerations. In fact, I've yet to even try gaming on my current Asus ultrabook and I've have that laptop for 4 years now. That's what the desktop is for

Anyone with Kabylake using Corsair Link? New version out yesterday (4.6.0.86) has Kabylake support, shows DRAM timing and fixes a possible pump start up issue with my H110i.

MSI To Release Five GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphics cards two with LCS

MSI has lifted the curtain on their GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphics cards. They are releasing the Aero, Armor, Gaming X, Sea Hawk EK and sea hawk editions. That means the lineup has two liquid cooled SKUs, one of them cooled by EK, the other by Corsair.

Next to the two Liquid cooled cards, the Gaming X (photos here) is joining the party as well as well as the more affordable Armor and Aero series cards. MSI did not release full photos just yet, but is teasing with the photo below.

Building on the monumental success of MSI’s award winning GAMING X series, the MSI GeForce® GTX 1080 Ti GAMING X 11G uses the full force of the TWIN FROZR VI cooler, allowing for higher core and memory clock speeds for increased performance in games. The famous shapes of the eye-catching TWIN FROZR cooler are intensified by a fiery red GAMING glow piercing through the cover, while the MSI GAMING dragon RGB LED on the side can be set to any of 16.8 million colors to match your mood or build. A completely new custom 10-phase PCB design using Military Class 4 components with two 8-pin power connectors enables higher overclocking performance to push your graphics card to the max. The classy matte black solid metal backplate gives the card more structural strength and provides a nice finishing touch.

I guess Corsair must have noticed my system specs with many Corsair products. They gave me 3 new fans.

Problem is they are "virtual" fans caused by the "new and Improved" 4.6.086 software. 1 and 5, 2 and 6 and 3 and 7 are the same fans.

You may want to avoid 4.6.086 .

Gotta love it when companies give out free stuff; like those 3.99TB drives Microsoft gives out with their cumulative updates.
