It takes time to manufacture these chips, get orders, ship them and put them on the shelves. Just because the papers and specs has been released, does not mean that Intel has already produced millions of these CPUs, ready to be delivered. That would be bad business.

Small batches which will be adjusted with demand is the way to go. That is how all chip and hardware makers does it. :)

Although, one problem with liquid metal as opposed to a good TIM, is you need to redo it more often(at least that's what I have read).

That's still absurd and I see no reason to pay that much for a 8700K. But hey, it's a way to make a buck and I'm sure some will sell. Anyway I no longer overclock so my feelings differ from most who do. Anyway if that's what it takes these days, good luck.
