    Put together my proposed upgrade:

I am selling my parts for £350 so that is a cost of £391.69 for this upgrade.....

I Think this is worth it.

I just scribbled out my parts for a Core i7-8700K build, but I need everything. (OS and Monitor too) It was coming in just under $3k. (and that includes a bit of a splurge on the monitor).

Nice but what's the system specs? Curiosity :)

And nice processor. Mine has the 7600U (duo core)
    It's coming as an i7 8550U (4C,8 T) 8GB DDR4, 1TB 5400RPM HD. 13.,3" 1920x1080 Touch.
I also have 16GB DDR4 and a 256GB Crucial SSD on the way fro it.

When I built my current rig, I think it cost me close to $2000, and I used a lot of parts I already had. No monitor, PSU hard drives and such.
Of course a $400 Motherboard didn't help that much.

This was the first board that used DDR4. Prices were higher than they are now for ram. I think 16 GB cost around $250+.

The 8550U is a true quad core. I also ordered a 256GB SSD and 16GB of RAM for her. [/URL]
So you plan on upgrading it right away with the other parts on the way? Also is it coming with 10 Home or Pro, and are you upgrading to Pro if Home is installed?

Yeah, 16GB right now is about $180 for what I picked out. Unfortunately, it's about 2x the cost of my kids DDR4 build from about 1 year ago.

Keeping case, HD/SSD drives, Optical, GPU, and sound card while adding a Samsung 950Pro NVMe drive, cost me $1500. And yeah, my MB cost me $360. That said, that doesn't include the additional thousand I spent on two more SSD drives (1 & 2 TB)

Anyway I plan on keeping this 7700K system for at least another 3 years before the next major upgrade. The only thing I need to upgrade in the near future is the GPU. That'll be around Christmas. A Christmas from me to me :)

Yes, I'm going to upgrade it right away. It's coming with Home Edition. I'm leaving it on Home for now. I only bought the i7 upgrade and decided to order the rest of the upgrades third party.

Sounds like a good Christmas present to yourself. My rig is about 3 years old, I think. It's due for retirement. Semi retirement at least.
