Hey Andrew, and Mike, with your best overclocks set, to really give them a stability test, one up 7Zip, select a Windows ISO, click Tools in the menu at the top, and Benchmark it, and then see if your system locks up, or crashes:

I crashed so often when I was OC'd at 4.92

This test system stability(CPU & RAM), and not just the OC stability(that would just downclock, not crash)

Bought a new Kaby Lake laptop today. Look forward to seeing the performance gains from Broadwell and DDR3 to DDR4 and Kaby Lake.

What's interesting is my 2017 Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga X1 came with DDR3 RAM (1866MHz), even though the processor is a Kaby Lake (i7-7600U).

BTW what laptop did you get?

I might get laughed off the forum but I bought a System76 Lemur 14" Ultrabook. Wanted a dedicated Linux machine and you can't beat a Linux box that was designed for it. Selling off all my laptops minus one older ThinkPad T410s that will have Windows 10 installed instead of Ubuntu it's running now. Going to replace the T410s with a T430s when I get the System76 paid off. Really can't wait to get it. Specs are in my computer spec 2.

I'm happy for you, keep us posted how well it runs.

I use to dual boot Ubuntu with my Win7 ASUS laptop, and on my off the shelf Lenovo I had Ubuntu in a VMware machine(both OEM licenses).
With Win10 and my HYRICAN I have Win10 Pro so I have Ubuntu in a Hyper-V VM.

I think using the Ubuntu Unity desktop, made the transition from Win7 to 8 & 8.1, easier for me, than it was for others, who had no experience with it.
