Eventually we're going to get to a point where vendors remove the equation of overclocking as a hidden selling point. What I mean here is vendors will get to a point where their items are no longer overclockable and no longer a concern as a selling point. I'd imagine someone's been tracking returns of various items due to bad overclocks gone wrong. This is probably costing companies millions and somewhere someone is saying enough is enough. I've heard rumors Intel will be locking their processors down as well.
Yes, there's always going to be the group that does it (overclock) but it's going to get harder to the point that many will simply give up.
Anyway that's my two cents on the matter.
