Agreed. I thought he made some faulty assumptions. I watch Computex to see things that haven't been announced or released. What's coming to market in the next year. I only give motherboards a cursory glance, just to get platform features. We already knew, for the most part, what Intel was going to release and what 'Threadripper' was. If you don't know what the difference in X299 and X399 is, you're pretty lost anyway.

Now, put a CPU in those motherboards and I'll be watching closely. Show me some performance numbers, and I'll pay attention. I'm sorry Steve, I can't get excited about watching a motherboard sitting on a shelf when you are not going to tell me the performance, reliability or price. I get the fact he probably doesn't know any of that, so I don't watch a lot. But, that's just me. People are different, I know. As far as AMD vs Intel, no I'm not paying a lot of attention right now. Just my outlook on coverage. There was very little that came out of Computex, no matter who made the video, that captured my attention. Yes, I watched several videos. I turned about half of them off about half way through.

Yes, I'm just a grouchy old man, I guess.

Supposedly, after being promised and waiting for so long, Vega is being released as an Apple product.

I have no clue. I saw that on a Linus and Jayz WAN show. Apparently AMD made a deal with Apple that Apple was going to announce it and it was going to be released with their new Pro Mac. No details were given as to when it would be released to the general public, or even if it would for that matter, although I am sure it will eventually. Just passing along what they said.

Start somewhere around 16:30. It's mostly about Apple, but the subject starts about Vega being released first and announced in Macs.

So what's your thoughts on AMD and any new card releases for PC this year? Is AMD done here?

I have no clue what AMD is going to do. I don't think AMD knows what they are going to do. Over the last few years, I have lost any faith in anything AMD says. Like you like to say, until they release it, it's all speculation.

Well somewhere down the line I'm going to want a more performance driven GPU, and if AMD can't deliver, I may be forced over to NVidia. You know I've been looking at that EVGA 1080 FTW2, but have held off. I'll keep an ear on what going on in the next couple of months and go from there.

    Thanks.

In reality, we still don't know what they are using in the Mac Pro, it could be the Vega Fire Pro version for all we know. They could be saving the retail version until after the Apple release. Who knows.
