@specialkone, I think there are some pretty significant price drops. I would like to think some IPC improvements and speed improvements have been made, but assuming they are the same:
The i7-6950X is 10 core/20 threads and came out at $1750, the i9-7900X is also 10/20 and cost $1000. That's a pretty good drop to me.
I bought my i7-5930K when it was first released and paid $585 for it. The same 6/12 i9 now is reported to be $389.
The current 8/16 came out at about $1100, the i9 8/16 is listed at $600.
Depending on performance and chipset upgrades, which there will be several, I think it is what I was hoping for.
As far as the 18 core monster, I think that is aimed at enterprise customers. They are probably the only ones who have software that knows what to do with 36 threads. To them, $2000 may be a very good price. I wouldn't know.
EDIT: that being said, everything I own is up for sale!
