Mike, an ATX motherboard is 9.6" wide. My 980 is 10.6" long and the 1080 TI FTW3 is 11.8". But, in a decent size case, it will fit just fine.
Ya, the Corsair 750D cases Worf and I have support a max GPU length of 460mm, or for my American friends, 18.1 inches.

Always a good idea to check your hardware specs before buying.

And we all know from experience AMD would never exaggerate their performance.

Understood. But if they do compete, you are going to see some pretty angry investors at Nvidia.

"NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang. He added that the R&D budget for the new card (1080) was "several billion dollars" over the span of more than two years."

    What's AMD's R&D budget, under a billion?

PS: can't afford much but I did buy some Nvidia stock (2014) and indeed sold it off quickly with their 2016 results. Tax due in Canada May 1 and our fine government(s) want most of that but there is enough left for Volta. Nvidia's 2016 performance will be paying for my next GPU. Keeping that aside.

I expect them to be competitive, just not with the Titan and I suspect not with the TI. Most reviews I have seen say between 5-10% better than the 1080, which I am happy about. Nvidia, just like Intel, need some competition. We will be the real winners in that battle. With Nvidia's new pricing structure, they have tried to box AMD in to how much they can charge for the new cards. To me, it's like watching a chess game.

The pricing expectations for the TI before it was released was a lot higher than the $700 it ended up being. When the TI was released at $700 I remember thinking I can't remember everyone being so happy about a $700 graphics card. But, I have a hard time believing Nvidia will announce a new card when their last card has not been completely released yet. There are several versions from different manufacturers that haven't even been talked about yet. Where are all the Hybrids, Asus always comes out with a couple of ROG cards like the posiden which I haven't seen, and what about the Classified. And Nvidia is going to kill the sales of their TI right now?

Makes zero sense to this mind. As I mentioned, only scenario for a quicker Volta release that makes sense to me is if Vega competes with TI. Suspect Nvidia is waiting to see those "really nice" results as well.

Personally, I believe Nvidia already knows exactly how well Vega will do.
