Thats good to know ....I am still holding off for now, still on 2202 which is very stable for me. Question for you, is your Asus overclocked?? Reason I ask is, I was wondering if you had to change your bios settings back to its defaults, before upgrading your bios to 3401.
I'll answer with this.... It's always recommended by the MB vendor to load optimized default after a BIOS update. Thus if you followed the recommended procedure, you'd need to re-do your overclocks. Also bear in mind things change with BIOS updates so keeping the same OC setting could actually be more harmful than helpful. Something to think about

I just recently did a BIOS update on my board and loaded optimized defaults afterwards. After that I tweaked the settings per my needs. No issues :)

Agree with above, always set defaults prior to update. You will lose any oc profiles when updating too
Actually the recommendation is afterwards. My guess is that this inures the new BIOS is at base setting and working properly.

Anyone know if this new updated bios 3401 supports the Intel i7-7700k chip ?? I am assuming it does, but have not read anything on Asus's site that mentions it.

Thanks Doug, I did read on one of the pages it did, starting with 3101 Beta. Just wanted to make sure. Sorry for these stupid questions too....just still nervous about updating my board to the 3401. I know I will soon thou. As I want to get that Kaby real bad... :)

OldMike; I think you are getting all good advice here. Personally I set defaults both before the bios update and after when it sends you into the bios. Color me cautious. I would never do a bios update with a set OC.

I typically have profile 1 set to 4.0 with xmp, profile 2, with 4.6 xmp and profile 3 with 4.8 xmp. As Dude mentions, all these profiles will be wiped out with the bios update. It's like the manufacturer is telling you to try your personal preferences and OC again AFTER the bios update.

I too have had no issues with the 3401 bios update, including no issues with xmp. I THINK the Asus bios' after the 2XXX series support Kaby. Asus came out with new bios' (3XXX) across the board on the Z170 MB around the end of last year which was likely just that, Kaby support. But you're right. I haven't seen Asus themselves state that but I don't see Asus saying much of anything on the ROG forum. You could call them and ask to make sure. I did call Asus support once on a different MB issue. I did get through to them.

Mike; one thing I noticed with the 3XXX bios update that I didn't experience with the 2XXX update is that after the bios update and the system restart, it didn't restart just once but 2-3 times. You will see that some on the ROG forum mention this. It might be specific to certain Z170's.

If it happens to you, I'm sure you know, don't do/touch anything and let it do its thing. It gets me into bios then Windows just fine after a couple of resets.
