I still remember the feeling I had on hearing the post beep on the first computer I built.

Any of you with the Asus Z170 Maximus VIII motherboards (Formula, Ranger, etc) who were seeing the latest bios version as beta (3101) since December?

Asus has finally released a non beta update 3401.

I heard the same thing at the overclock.net Gigabyte Z170 forums where people were saying the F21 BIOS update weren't allowing not only XMP, but trying to enable Secure Boot was bricking systems. Not sure what that's about but I just updated my BIOS to F21 and no issues as reported here. Both XMP and Secure Boot were configured without issue.

I know reading threads you're likely to see the worst scenarios but it still amazes me, doing a bios update, same bios, same motherboard and so many different results.

I feel for the ones having issues - not fun.

I read about the new update yesterday, but still holding off upgrading my board. I'm still on 2202, which has been very stable for me. I did download 3401 thou.
There was still a version after 3101, that was not a beta, 3201. But lots of folks reported problems with that one too.

I do as well but I also believe some of those errors are user induced or lack of knowledge. Example there is a specific way in which you must prepare your motherboard to enable secure boot. That also calls for a UEFI capable GPU where you can disable CSM. Disabling CSM is the only way to get secure boot. Unfortunately disabling CSM can hard crash your system if your GPU isn't UEFI capable. I believe this is what some may have experienced. I certainly did until I got a new BIOS for my supposed UEFI enabled card. Here's the post on it.

Here's instructions on enabling UEFI Secure Boot on Gigabyte boards. I'm sure the instructions apply to other boards as well as Windows 10. Also to insure Windows IS running in secure boot, make sure you run the power shell command.
