Windows 10: 2017 Hardware Thread

So I'm contemplating getting rid of the troublesome Corsair Link completely. I had "heard" that when using a curve to control rad fans, you could uninstall Link and that curve would be retained.

Seems these days Corsair is actually responding to forum posts. Here's what the Product Manager for Corsair Link software is telling me:

"Without Link software running, the H110i can only control fans based on the coolant temperature. You actually want to run the fans off of your coolant temperature anyhow; coolant temperature doesn't fluctuate as rapidly as CPU temperature does, and cooling performance is directly related to the difference between the coolant temperature and your CPU temperature."

Not sure if he is saying if my Link CURVE was based on coolant temp it would be retained if I uninstalled Link. The only thing I know of that monitors both my rad fans RPM and my coolant temp is Corsair Link itself. So how would I know the curve's working if I uninstalled Link?

Speaking of the curve, mine is set with rad fan RPM to CPU package. I leave it flat at 1300RPM (it's quiet) until the package goes beyond 65C which it never does unless I OC the CPU. Corsair is saying to set the curve to the coolant temp. Look at this data from the Link log after a basic firestrike run. The CPU package as expected hits 55C but the coolant temp hardly ever moves other than a few degrees with a max of 28.9C.

What is the point of a CURVE based on coolant temp when the coolant temp only fluctuates a few degrees? Are you guys with Link controlling rad fans based on a coolant temp curve? What about members who run constant 4.6 -5.0 Skylake CPU overclocks? What are your coolant temps at?

I switched to a Lepa Aquachanger 240 after I got tired of the usb header control/Cooler software of the Antec 920 I was using. Amazing how removing another piece of software control, and just using my MB control/settings works so much better. Look into Asus thermal control
