I don't think any AIB comes close to EVGA's customer support. When the issue first hit the net, EVGA simply came out with a bios revision that increased the default fan speed. They knew that would and did lower temps. They didn't have to come out with the thermal pad mod but did. One of the reasons was the thermal pad mod brought temps in line with most other AIB partners.

So Zotac could and may politely say "stick it". I suspect you always run Nessie on a decent fan curve anyway. But I would still consider thermal pads.
    Hello @specialkone

I got this reply from Zotac Support today:

    Dear Andrew,
Can you provide SN, SKU and PN so that I can look into this further? This can all be found on the bar code sticker.

    Kindest regards,

    Eurotech Team
I have replied with the information requested and will see what they come back with.

That's a stall tactic as they should have been requested that info.

Had to same BS reply when I was going through issues with my Sapphire card.... and the info was sent when I first requested help! Their replay... a few days later - "Sorry we didn't see it, can you confirm" WTF!!!

Anyway hope you get your issue resolved. Good luck.

Seems you at least woke them up. I'm sure our smart worf knows what they are thinking about is if they did something for you they would have to provide the same modification for every other owner. So sygnus21 may be right.

IMHO honey works best so a positive attitude with them at this point in the discussion may give you a better chance for success. "This is a great GPU and I just want to ensure VRM is as cool as possible. EVGA has fixed a similar issue with a thermal pad mod kit they sent to their customers. What would you (Zotac) recommend to get the VRM temps down? Would you be able to supply a thermal pad mod kit, even if it's optional?"

The word optional may make their lawyers happy. The only position of strength you may have is the knowledge Zotac does not want Steve Burke talking about their GPU. After he reviewed their 1080 (with similar comments) their reaction was they wouldn't give him a 1080TI to review. That 1080TI he did review was from a consumer. If the discussions go south, you might consider telling Zotac you are thinking about using Gamers Nexus "Ask GN" feature to tell Steve Burke Zotac won't do anything about the VRM heat issue and see if he could post a video of a proper mod. Note that an "ultimatum" tone could end the conversation with Zotac one way or the other, as I'm sure you know.

    Good luck!

As some of you know, I have hinted at and discussed building a new rig soon. It is time to upgrade my hardware. As Sygnus said in another thread my hardware is getting a little "long in the tooth". My Granddaughter spent the weekend with us, and during that time I was talking about it to her. As most 15 year olds do, she had some definite opinions on which hardware is the best. So, after the discussion I thought you guys would like to see what my new rig is going to look like.

You can bet that's the truth. All I will get to do is see the backside of it.
