Private equity firm likely to purchase Corsair

PS: the last sentence, where I bolded, $30.4B, way to go dude.
It took a bit to re-find this post:)

    It's a done deal:
EagleTree Buys Majority Share in Corsair for $525 Million

Corsair*announced today that EagleTree Capital reached a definitive agreement in partnership with current management to acquire a majority stake in CORSAIR from Francisco Partners and several minority shareholders.*
As part of the transaction, CORSAIR founder and Chief Executive Officer Andy Paul will maintain a sizable equity stake in the Company and continue in his role as CEO. IMCO (Investment Management Corporation of Ontario) and the Honeywell pension are also co-investing alongside EagleTree, which is acting on behalf of its private equity fund EagleTree Partners

Because I love my Asus U46SV so much, I've been thinking about upgrading it a bit.

CPU: i5-2410M --> i7-2640M (possibly i7-2860QM but it has much higher TDP)
    RAM: 2 x 4GB (9-9-9-24 DC) --> 2 x 8GB (9-9-9-24 DC)

I should get a 30% performance increase with 2640M and the doubled RAM lets me run more VMs. If I decide to go for the 4-core i7, I also get more cores for my VMs which could help a bit.

    What do you guys think?

I had a 2640M Thinkpad. Good Processor. I had a 2410M i5 and it was weak compared to the 2640M. Go for it!

Intel: Look we have 18 cores, much better than 16 cores.
AMD: That is cute, here we have a 32 core CPU. :P
Intel: Back to bribing OEM's I guess...

You delid a CPU because TIM was used instead of solder. Why you delid a soldered CPU is beyond me, other than just to see what's under it, like you can really tell a whole lot. This guy is just trying to start something like he tried with the X299 VRM thing. He created a problem that didn't exist other than maybe if you were using LN2. Even then, I don't think you are likely to be running Prime95.

Personally, I think he did it to see how it was put together, and to show us.
Like now we know they are using EPYC CPU's with 2 chips turned off.

Plus when a pro delidder nukes a chip, that should be a warning to everyone else.

I wonder if Buildzoid will cover the RYZEN, now he has pics to go by( a little more info than before).
