AMD Announces Ryzen Threadripper 1920X and 1950X processors

And the performance bang for the buck is all AMD at the top. The best Intel price/performance isn't the I5, it's your I7 7700K.
    good to hear that

AMD Ryzen Threadripper procs will offer a lot of bang for buck
    AMD is looking good

It's about time. And I'm routing for the "little guy" and hoping for consistent, good competition. Good for all of us.

Yep, I hope they do good as well, but I'm still skeptical. This is the same thing from AMD. They have been doing it since the Phenom II days. They are going to release a CPU and show 1 benchmark they can win. This particular benchmark favors cores. The more cores, the better the score. They compared a 16 core and a 12 core against a 10 core and won. Well, they should have won. Where are the rest of the benchmarks? I hope the do well and even beat Intel, but based on their past history, I'll believe it when I see it.

You are totally right. I have always wanted a higher core count, but Intels prices discourage me. I am keeping an eye on this

I'm going to stay positive on the Threadripper front. Pricing looks pretty solid to me. Maybe it's time to upgrade my Core 2 Quad Q9550. That was built in July of 2009.

That wouldn't be an upgrade, just a case of throw old one bring in new one. If you want secondary system, wait for new APU and some mini ITX mb.

They seem to do it every 10 years, nothing to get excited over. It`s still just an AMD.

Intel does it in very small increments, they don't get out with anything revolutionary more often either.

    It`s all smoke and mirrors

Mine looks good too. Check that, only 3 of my 4 MB fans show up. But it does show 2 temps for each hard drive, so that`s good

I never upgrade. Always leave old system together and build new again.
