    I use to dual boot Ubuntu with my Win7 ASUS laptop, and on my off the shelf Lenovo I had Ubuntu in a VMware machine(both OEM licenses).
    With Win10 and my HYRICAN I have Win10 Pro so I have Ubuntu in a Hyper-V VM.

    I think using the Ubuntu Unity desktop, made the transition from Win7 to 8 & 8.1, easier for me, than it was for others, who had no experience with it.
    Ubuntu is so much better than it used to be. I'm a big fan of Hyper-V. Run it at work daily for multiple VM's.

    Andrew, you might want to think about getting Nessie some thermal pads too:
    Zotac GTX 1080 Ti AMP! Extreme Review: Thermals Hardware Benchmarks

    Read the section: Thermal Pad Mod – Zotac 1080 Ti Amp Extreme(also more on it in the video too)

    Seen that video Cliff. I will be sending Zotac a email in regards to this issue Small issue at that as does not effect the cards performance) and see what they are willing to do about it. Finger crossed

    Will let you know how it goes and see if I get any real reduction of temps. Review I have seen have said between 12c - 15c reduction.
