I`m still using Precision X version 5.3.11, it does what I need it to do

I tried the XOC version for about 1 minute then uninstalled it.

I`ll give it another chance when I get my 1080 Ti.

Ya, Asus' customer service isn't the best but with the quality of their GPU's I've had in the past and current MB, never really needed it. Haven't heard too many complaints about the Asus 1080TI, although I'm not going for a 1080TI.

@specialkone Asus Customer Support is non existent. The last time I emailed them about a problem with my Motherboard, they responded 3 weeks later telling me to do what my email said I had already done. I had to RMA that board 5 times before getting a working one. The only way I did that was because I knew someone on the ROG forums. Never ever buy anything from Asus if you are depending on Customer Support.

That being said, I always buy Asus Motherboards. I can't recall the last time I even considered another brand. I do read reviews of them very closely, and I know I am gambling when I buy one. I still think they make the best motherboards.

It wouldn't even run for me. I don't know why. But, I had few problems with the older version. I just could not get OSD to work at all.

Believe I keep OSD off most of the time, as I have no use for it, but it does turn itself on sometimes. This version I am running is an older version thou, not there latest. v1.8 I don't trust at all Steve.

6.1.9 wouldn't even run for me. I have no clue why. 6.1.8 is what I'm using. It works fine for my purposes, although the OSD only works when you don't want it to. It never works when you want it to.

On another subject, I did a clean install less than a month go and my benches have been fine. The other night I was running Valley and couldn't figure out why I could never get the expected scores. No matter what I did, I could never get over 68xx. I have another install on another drive which I had just restored an image of a clean install. I switched over to that OS and ran valley with the same settings and scored 72xx something which is around what I expected. Apparently some piece of software is holding scores down. I had this same issue when I first got the 1080 TI. After a clean install, everything was fine..... until now. The only thing I can figure is I had just installed O365 Pro Pus. Wondering if that could be the problem. Any ideas from anyone?

Try making a bootable virtual drive(VHDX) install Windows in it, uninstall/turn off everything you can(specially the Xbox stuff), install only software you need to use to benchmark with & drivers. Total bare metal. Boot into that and give it a spin.

I was helping @Kari last week by following step for step a tutorial he's working on, and working with him to find possible issues he might need to warn about, and we found these:

Make absolutely sure you have not turned off "Time to display list of operating systems".
Make sure you use the same ISO or Windows version for the virtual drive(OEM/Pro/Enterprise) with the same bitness.

One advantage of having this is, you will be able to also access your "host" installs files too.

And when you're done with it, just delete the VHDX folder, delete the boot entry, and it's gone.

So you're willing to take the risk on an Asus MB but not a GPU? I had zero issues with my two Asus 770's which I oced the heck out of and are still running fine.

Yes I know Asus' customer support is poor. I'm a member of the Ten Forums and I know you and others. What question/issue would I have for Asus that I couldn't figure out or get an answer here. I would only need them for RMA's and they do honor their warranties. That being said it may not be Asus, could be one of the other AIB's.

The OSD is extremely important to me. I could care less what my final benchmark number is as long as it's similar to similar hardware. How in the world do you truly know how your GPU is performing without the OSD displayed, benchmark or in game? I want to see how the GPU is performing at all times when it's being stressed.

IMHO the biggest risk is being locked into XOC software with an EVGA GPU, as AB runs the secondary fans at default with ICX cooling. Given the current state of XOC and its server software, no way am I going to get myself into that situation with my next GPU.

@specialkone, Yea, I do take a chance with their motherboards. I may with their GPUs too, but GPUs usually are a lot more money.

I have tried overclocking with AB, but for some reason, it just won't OC as well as XOC on this card. If I want OSD, I usually set the fan speed I want and the OC in XOC. Then close it. The system remembers what I put in. I open AB and it shows the OC and leave it open and will have the OSD. I agree, that shouldn't be necessary, but it isn't a whole lot of trouble and it works for me. With my 980, everything worked but I couldn't OC for crap with XOC, AB did a good job. It seems XOC is made for Pascal now and doesn't work real well on older versions is my guess. I never OC my card while gaming. I guess I would if needed, but don't need to. Plus, I guess I'm not as big a gamer as some of you guys are. I seem to not have the time any more.

I've been trying to game a little more recently to relieve stress. It used to work. Now days, with some of the games I have, the games create as much stress as everything else does. Maybe because I'm not any good, you think.
