That's easy. $ Stuff comes up and I could use it now if I want to do a new build. I'll get another one in a few months, or just wait a few months and do the new build. Either way, I'm not going into savings. I may be a prime example of one of the crazy new hardware enthusiasts, but I'm not really dumb on top of crazy. :)
    A discerning enthusiast?

That's not a good sign. Wow. No, there's nothing wrong with mine, just may use the $ on a new build and get another one in another month or two.

Well my spending sprees are over for now. The only thing I'm looking for now is a new GPU, outside of that, I'm sticking with what I have for awhile.

It's been this way in the past, but now it seems even more true that every time you buy something it's immediately replaced with something shinier. I think I'll skip this gen and wait for the next.

Your new stuff is very shiny. That looks to be a class rig you have. It should be able to hold down the temptation for a while.

Yeah, definitely not in a hurry to get anything else. The SSD drives alone could have built me another rig :)

Yea, most likely. I am even thinking of selling my FTW 3. I'll get something later.
This, coming from you, doesn't surprise me one bit. And this is the guy who holds onto his 1960's hardware because it overclocks so well. "Me thinks" you are totally bored with Pascal's (especially the 1080TI) inability to overclock. IMHO, the 1080TI's are fast, but a gamer's GPU way more than an overclocker/enthusiast GPU.

What surprises me is how Nvidia blew off the overclockers with this round of GPU's to the point where reviewers, especially of the 1080TI, are talking about nothing more than fan noise and cooling.

Will be interesting to see with the release of Volta if this is becoming an Nvidia trend.

"Me thinks" this is pure speculation on your part :)

Anyway I'm glad I don't get caught up in the whole benchmark/overclock craze anymore. Just give me the parts to do my daily PC computing and gaming. Don't get me wrong, I love my performance parts, but I don't get caught with how well they do or don't do with regards to overclocking. It's why I haven't run out and replaced my woeful benchmarking R9 Fury card. It games just fine.

I'm sure it does, as does my FTW 1080. However, my nephews sometimes browse this forum. If they get wind of essenbe selling his FTW 3 1080TI, I might be in big trouble.

Yeah, I quit focusing on what is available, and instead actually on what do I actually need. This isn't a "fun" enthusiast mindset, but it's saved me a ton of money in the past. I've also found that as I do more and more at work with computers, I am less interested in tinkering with them at home these days. With data going to the cloud, streaming becoming the norm, and games available for download, my needs for storage and cool network gadgetry had gone the way of the do-do bird.

I'm actually happy my kid is getting into computers a bit, so that I can build for him and with him. It re-ignites a spark in me from a fire that has mostly gone out. I use my computers, and have a Windows desktop from 8 years ago and la Mac laptop from 3 years ago and both are handling my needs. Sad, but true.

@sygnus21, that's a pretty solid laptop you got there. Did you find a great price deal on it? I'm always curious about what is out there, for what price.
