Windows 10: 2017 Hardware Thread

Out of curiosity, why the need to dual boot with both Windows 7 and 10? To me Windows is Windows. If you have an app that won't run in 10, couldn't you do it in a VM?

Not just everything would run in a VM, specially programs/games that need more or less direct access to HW.

True, but nearly all apps that work in 7 also work in 10. I understand dual boots when you run something like Linux and windows. I just wondered when its multiple copies of Windows.

Well, it's not bad to have a "spare" OS. I also have W7 on 120GB SSD) and Linux Mint (160GB HDD) on own disks, On W7, few programs/games that I just couldn't get to run on W10 or just don't want to clutter up 240GB SSD with W10. Mint has own uses though.
That arraignment got me thru with few bad problems with W10. Also keeps me in touch with W7 and occasionally switch to it to help others that have problems with W7, my memory is not what it used to be.

Some people, like myself, have had W7 installed forever and don`t want to just have 7 or 10.

I have both on this box, but never in a dual boot, it`s one or the other.

Everyone has their favorite, I personally like 7 over 10, but you`re right, it`s just an OS

I don't need two Windows operating system. When I get in the mood, I will install W-10 on this computer. On it's own drive and Windows 7 on it's own drive.

Their is a lot of "Don't Needs" in both of my computers.
I build my system on the "I Want" method.

Their is a lot of "Don't Needs" in just these two picture.

Well said Jack. A lot of us are that way. My only problem is the "I want" part always causes the "I'm broke" part.

I typically try to go with the, "What will be good enough" method. Each person here has their own setup, so it get's a bit costly. For example, my wife has a 3.5 year old Core i5 Samsung UltraBook. I have a 2013 MacBook Pro, and a 2009 Desktop running a core2Quad Q9550. My daughter got a 12" MacBook for this past Christmas, and my son got a gaming desktop which we built (Core i5, SSD, Nvidia 1060GTX, 16GB RAM, 24" UltraSharp monitor). And I'm starting a new job in a few weeks, so I'll likely be building myself a new desktop soon, just waiting for he AMD Ryzen to come out to see if it's worth the hype.
