Will do, my friend. I am inclined at this point to wait and not get the pre order. I want to see what the heck Nvidia is going to do next.
I cannot and do not argue with that strategy.

I really, really wanted the FTW3, but the Step Up program was too much of a temptation, so I'm just going FE and probably going to slap hybrid kits on both cards.

Man, that FTW3 is pretty though.

I'm of the adage that if you wait for the latest tech you'll never buy any tech.
Yeah, that's an adage that I subscribe to as well. I generally like to set a budget first, then buy what I can at the time, and then try to stop looking at prices. However, forums like this always make that hard as others talk about the technology. I've had friends who have waited, and waited, and waited and waited. Meanwhile, I'm playing games and enjoying the PC that I bought. And as you know, I like to buy a few steps down from the top, with the intention of just going with a complete rebuild in a few years time. I think it saves me money in the end, meets my needs, and gives me upgrades to the rest of the family.

Drew, I don't disagree with you at all. But in this case there are too many rumors floating around the net to completely ignore. With all the different rumors, I can't believe all of them. But one recurring one was that Nvidia is going to announce, at the end of May, that they are going to release Volta in June. If that is the case I can get a better card if I am willing to wait 6 weeks or so. If it isn't true, I can get the TI at the end of May instead of the middle of May. Either way, the wait won't matter that much to me and that's a lot of money for either one.
In your case, I think you need to NOT ignore the rumors as you are spending a big chunk of change on this part. I've built entire systems for friends that have cost less than your card. I think this is one reason I gravitate away from the high end hardware and stay a few steps behind. I feel I suffer from less buyers remorse.

Anyway as I said, I'm in a similar boat in waiting for announcement of Microsoft's new line of notebooks seeing I'm in need of one. I could get one of the current offerings now, but for the money I intend to spend, and rumors of a new Surface Book Pro to release this year, I'd feel stupid not to wait. In both yours and mine instances, this is an exceptions to the rule as there is a high probability that a new model will be released in less than 6 months. We'd both be stupid not to wait and see :)
Don't you wish we could build our own laptops? My current personal laptop just turned 3, but I don't have any reason to replace it yet. It's still fast, has plenty of disk space, and the battery is doing fantastic. < That part really surprises me. Just doesn't seem like that much has changed in the laptop arena in the past few years. My laptop has a Core i5, 8GB of RAM and a 256GB PCI-Express SSD.

Here we go again, Just checked to see the status of my order and now its saying pre-order with expected stock on 28/04/17. I emailed them for clarification and hoping that stock did come in and now its gone with my order being allocated one and getting ready for dispatch.
