Top of the range computer with my SDD!

Could I in theory have a computer built for me with top specifications, but I install my own 500gig Samsung SDD with all my Windows 10 64bit with all updates (taken from this old computer) Your thoughts as always most appreciated.

First I'll say this forum is full of Windows 10 experts and I'm not one of them. But when I did my major build update and slipped in my Samsung SSD which had my Windows 10 on it, Windows wouldn't activate. I believe this was triggered by the many new components, specifically the motherboard.

It took a discussion with Microsoft to get Windows 10 activated again. I don't know what all their criteria is but what seemed to do it for me is I had previously purchased a Windows 8 upgrade and had a product key. What I do know is Microsoft was focused on a way to get my Windows 10 up and running again, which they did quickly.

Would really keep the price down, fitting my 2 SSD drives 500gig & 250gig, could spend more on motherboard & processor, but seems I could have issues which hopefully can be sorted out!
Cheers for the informative input. Bedtime in UK, see you tomorrow.

With the new Digital license linked to your Microsoft account, you will not have activation problems.

PS: Dude I had a digital license and linked to my Microsoft account. Ran the trouble shooter. Nope. But that was about 5 months ago right after the free Windows 10 upgrade expired. The rep did mention some issues related to MB changes.

Some good input here, My computer 8 years old, at times feels like it is powered by steam, my birthday in April, my wife says I can have what I like, a new custom build fits the bill. Running WinVersion 1607 (OS Build 14393.576) would activation be via phonecall or internet?

Most likely by phone, due to hardware changes.

If you do have the activation issue, Dude is correct, by phone is the best. That's what I did. Knowledgeable, caring Microsoft rep was my experience who had me up and running after a few questions but basically in no time.

Man, you guys (Peter, Dude, Doorules, etc) have awesome wives. Well deserved I suspect and I gather from your posts mentioning them, your better halves are indeed appreciated.
