First I'll say this forum is full of Windows 10 experts and I'm not one of them. But when I did my major build update and slipped in my Samsung SSD which had my Windows 10 on it, Windows wouldn't activate. I believe this was triggered by the many new components, specifically the motherboard.

It took a discussion with Microsoft to get Windows 10 activated again. I don't know what all their criteria is but what seemed to do it for me is I had previously purchased a Windows 8 upgrade and had a product key. What I do know is Microsoft was focused on a way to get my Windows 10 up and running again, which they did quickly.
Activation issues when upgraded components is most likely because of the motherboard.

Don't download drivers off Asus website. Chances are they are not up to date. The only things u may have to download from there is bios and audio drivers if u have supreme FX audio or something similar.
Really? Typically a reputable manufacturer will have all the latest drivers for their product, especially for their more recent models. Check the dates of the driver release from the website. In my case many are dated late 2016. In addition to software and of course bios, I installed chipset, audio, lan, usb, wireless, sata and blue tooth. After that I had Windows check for newer drivers. In every case it came back stating the best driver is already installed. The only exception was wireless (Atheros) but the Windows 10 later driver date was a slightly different model.

With the stability of this MB and its current ability to aggressively overclock this I7 6700k CPU, I'll stick with those Asus drivers.
