    Overclocking question

When it come to overclock CPU, I know how to dial the frequency and voltage and once you find out your CPU frequency and voltage stable with good temperature, switch the voltage from manual to adaptive. But the two questions that I want to ask ya professional overclock members here on this forum is which stress test tools should I use for the new Intel generation CPU? And how long should I run them? I know a fact, that you must test all your favorite games, benchmarking software such as 3DMark 11, Valley benchmark, Heaven benchmark, etc...... and do every day stuff like you usually do in order to declare that your overclock CPU is 100% stable after stress test.

Aida64 or Prim95 are the best out there for stress testing.

But i would say dont stress the whole system stress test parts to test for instability before stressing the whole system makes finding out whats wrong faster

    Intel Burn Test

There`s really no need to OC the 4790K, it`s phenomenal right out of the box.

    But I think I got it 5.1 GHz :)

But how long should I run Aida64, Prime95, or Intel Burn test? I want to know this because in the future i might build another PC and start overclocking.

I would say 10 passes of IBT extreme without overheating is good. Lots of people run Prime for many hours, I prefer AIDA64, about an hour. Just my opinion, if its good with either of them, then test in your favorite game.

Use the Asus Realbench or x264 encoding benchmark. The Aida64 bench isn't very good at revealing instabilities and IBT and prime95 are too stressful with the advanced floating point vector instructions. If you are going to use prime95, do it with FFT size of 1344/1344. That size generally reveals instabilities but is not as stressful as other prime95 torture tests. I would do (and do) Realbench then x264, then Prime95 1344/1344 (with a large memory footprint).

I 100% agree with Geneo. Realbench or x264, or x265. No need to put the system through torture tests.
