620 watts ( minimum) to 750 watts ( maximum) is all you need for 1 single graphic card setup with plenty of room ahead for overclocking.

You only need 1300 watts+ if your PC have custom water cooling, and 3 or 4x GTX Titan series overclocked.

Wikipedia is not a reliable source anymore for logic understanding. Your choice is rather waste of money for a single graphics card setup, you could save over well $90 or more for another 128GB SSD for video editing or store additional games. No single graphics card will go to use that much of power, even GTX Titan X Pascal only use >300 watts while gaming and bechmarking. I recommend you to watch this video to educate yourself because this video well suit you for oversize power supply you needed.

Didn't I say that, LOL. I think "inordinate" is a little strong, especially for a good quality PSU. It may mean, for example, that you operate at a silver or bronze efficiency for a gold rated PSU - you would be better off spending money on a lower power, lower rated PSU if you are going to do that.

I bought an 850 Watt Seasonic X because it was on sale and cost less than the 750 or 650 W. I have sort of regretted it.

That is a chart for the requirements a PSU must meet to meet the standard. Good PSU have close to peak efficiency well below and above 50% of capacity.

Why do you regretted it? Seasonic is very good, and that 850 watts can handle SLI.

Because most of the time I am running less efficiently than I would a 650W. I don't regret the Seasonic, it is a great PSU, just the wattage, but it is not a big deal. . :)
